Piper Visits VaynerMedia & NYC
“Keep on keepin’ on. That’s the name of the game, and sometimes it gets really hard.” ~ Claude Silver
Claude Silver is the Chief Heart Officer of VaynerMedia. She calls upon 20 years of guiding client relationships, global brand strategies, operations, and management at many Fortune 50 companies to lead and inspire. Claude owns the onboarding, recruitment, retention, and graduation of all the people that come through VaynerMedia.
Earlier this spring, the Piper Squad had the opportunity to make the journey to New York City and sit down for an interview with Claude and learn what being a Chief Heart Officer is all about.
Upon arriving in the city, Director of Operations, Tori, and Chief Creative Officer, Hannah, met up with Aaron at a cafe (after taking one wrong stop on the subway) to prepare for the interview and discuss the game plan for the meeting.
The meeting was originally supposed to be 75 minutes, but an emergency internal meeting constrained Claude’s time to a half hour.
Aaron expressed that he didn’t want Claude to spend a single minute on air explaining something that she’s explained in another podcast. His plan was to listen to her other keynotes and podcasts and incorporate a previous instance where she explained Chief Heart Officer into his podcast, which would allow the conversation to go directly into the deep ideas of her work.
Once they had their plan in place, the gang packed up their stuff and headed over to VaynerMedia headquarters for the interview. When they arrived, they were escorted into the room where they would be doing the interview and began setting up while they waited for Claude.
When Claude walked in, Aaron introduced her to Tori, Hannah, and gave her a brief overview of Piper’s story. He shared that Tori is aiming to be Piper’s own Chief Heart Officer.
After a few more minutes of small talk and bonding, they got into the interview in which they discussed Claude’s day-to-day at work, the design of her office, and how Vayner onboards new hires. You can watch the full interview here.
After Aaron and Claude wrapped up their conversation, Claude expressed to Tori that she (as well as Aaron and Hannah) had “an incredible energy,” and--spoken in typical Claude fashion-- advised to them: “Find things that mean something to you, and I believe that’s where you will be strong.”
The gang left Claude’s office feeling nothing but positivity and good vibes. Claude and Tori had set up a time to chat sometime in the next few weeks, and they were all very excited to hear even more of Claude’s wisdom.
Before returning to the ‘Burgh, Aaron got dinner with a prospective speaker for the 3rd Going Deep Summit, while Tori and Hannah spent the rest of the day seeing the sights, taking artsy pictures, and celebrating another successful Piper adventure.
